About Vintage Junky & Michelle

Hello, I'm Michelle and here is just a little about me and Vintage Junky.

I have always loved design and decorating. I can remember as early as 5 or 6 pushing my grandfather's vintage chest around my bedroom and rearranging my furniture. I still have that chest and it has had many looks since then.

While I was in college, I worked at a local boutique that sold designer bedding and accessories. I got to do displays and learned exactly how to stuff a duvet cover. I attended Market twice as a buyer while I worked there... and found out that I loved the combination of shopping and design.

I earned my degree in 2002... a B.S. in Human Ecology with a concentration in Housing and Design and then immediately moved to the Nashville to work in retail for several years.

I met a man in a honky tonk and we fell in love and got married... another creative soul. Soon (like immediately) after we married, we moved into a cookie cutter house and I set to work creating character and charm in a basic builder. We started filling our home with vintage furniture and finds. While doing all of this, I discovered blogging and quickly set up my own blog, Vintage Junky. Which I quickly abandoned after 4 posts... I was baking a bun, so to speak.

After the birth of my incredibly charming little monster, I decided to start blogging again. It fueled my fire. We found ourselves out and about each weekend finding vintage goodness, but I just couldn't buy it all. So, I decided to open an etsy store to sell our great finds. I added handmade items like tea towels and pillows and burlap lampshades to the mix of the vintage items.

Then, in May of 2010, my husband surprised me on Mother's Day with a necklace, a bracelet and a booth in a nearby antique store. I was beyond excited and quickly started to paint furniture and designing other items for my space. I enjoyed (and still do) putting so much sweat (literally) and love into a piece of furniture.

So, that brings me where I am. But who am I? I am a wife, a mommy, a daughter, a sister and a friend. I am a lover of music and laughter and pretty weather and puppies. I think Savannah, Georgia is one of the prettiest places on Earth. I love reading. I love throwing great birthday parties. I love Coca-Cola and mint chocolate chip ice cream. I have been accused of living in my own happy little place. I love linen and mercury glass and old mirrors and ironstone dishes. I love creating. And, I love life and all the blessings I have been given.
